HOW I WORK
My approach to psychotherapy is largely influenced by existential, psychodynamic, and systemic theories. I also offer Internal Family Systems Therapy if that is of interest (for more information about IFS please click here). As an integrative practitioner, I draw upon a variety of different therapeutic approaches which are utilised flexibly, in a way that fits your unique needs and experiences. My style of working is interactive and dialogical in nature. As a relational practitioner, I believe that our relationships - with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us - play a large role in shaping how we engage with problems in living and life in general. My approach to psychological distress and human issues takes into consideration a holistic understanding of each person’s unique predicament in terms of past experiences, present situation and future ambitions. This means that I pay particular attention to the intricate ways in which each person's unique dilemmas (past and present) manifest themselves on an emotional, embodied, spiritual, and relational level, within their situated context.

The focus of our work together will be tailored around a collaborative assessment and exploration of your individual needs and difficulties. My therapeutic endeavours are aimed at addressing and examining the nature and function of your struggles, with the intention of fostering increased insight, awareness, and self-understanding, that promotes purposeful action and satisfactory resolution of issues.

A crucial part of this process involves learning to be more available to the present moment and embracing the uncertainty inherent in life and living. By doing so, we also strengthen our capacity to be more attentive to our emotional states. Our emotions are vital navigational tools in our lives that provide important information about our inner world and our relationships, helping us to make sense of ourselves as well as others. Paying attention to our feelings helps us gain insight into our needs, desires, and values, ultimately leading us towards a more authentic and fulfilling life, with a greater sense of passion and purpose. Pain, anger, sadness, fear, joy, and everything in between, are part and parcel of being human. I see my role as a therapist to facilitate facing these experiences with curiosity, care, and compassion so that they do feel so overwhelming.
The primary motivation of my psychotherapeutic work is to help individuals find clarity in their situation, confront their struggles, and take stock of their predicaments so that they can learn to move forward in ways that are felt to be more satisfying, meaningful and empowering to them. By widening your perspective of yourself and the world around you, and tackling the inevitable conflicts and dilemmas of our existence, you will be encouraged to reflect upon how you wish to live and what stands in the way of change.
